AirBorne

Full certification
All AirBorne products have been fully tested to CAA (like USA's FAA) certification standards for Microlight aircraft to ensure your flying safety. In North American
manufacturers can sell anything they wish, built in a factory or built out of a work shed at the bottom of their garden and still call it an aircraft not having had to go through any materials or flight testing to any government certification standard.  Under Australian (an European) law all aircraft are required to undergo a full certification process supervised by outside engineers and the aviation governing body (CAA) of that country.  This ensures that the aircraft you buy from us is safe to fly when operated by a properly trained pilot and flown in the weather conditions it was designed for.  Now which would you rather trust your life to, someone's promise that it is a strong aircraft or proven design and flight testing backed up with government paperwork???  Decide what you feel your life is worth - we know you'll be back.

Australia adopted the rigorous British BCAR Section S testing standards as requirements for certifying their Microlight aircraft.  These are tough on equipment, expensive to carry out and difficult to pass. In fact testing to destruction is required to make sure the component withstood the G-loading it was designed to handle.  It cost AirBorne over $200,000 to go through the certification and factory authorization as an aircraft builder process and of course all their aircraft pass with flying colours.

Factory Built
Unlike some kit trikes offered, AirBorne trikes are fully pre-built at the factory from jigs and tooling used to build the trike aircraft tested during the certification process so you know you are getting the same quality and fit.  Part of the certification and licensing requirements for an aircraft company to build under the Australian government Quality Assurance program ensures that only the highest grade materials ever make it into factory inventory.  All components that go to make up an AirBorne trike are batch numbered and can be tracked throughout the aircraft's service lifetime in dozens of schools and Air Parks throughout Australia, assuring you the new Edge X trike is one of the best documented airplanes anywhere.

When you order a new Edge X trike it will arrive fully built but the main axles and wheels are removed to enable it to be affordably shipped by air in a sturdy metal framed shipping crate. Once unpacked you simply bolt on the main gear legs and wheels and the trike is ready to go with no cutting, drilling or welding to do. Simply break in the engine, attach the prop and wing and you are ready to go flying.

2002 Edge X Trike
AirBorne trikes are known for their roominess, excellent build quality and fine workmanship the world over.  Just one look tells you this is a quality aircraft.  When you compare what you get to the competition the price you pay is hard to believe for such value.  When comparing value for money it is hard to find another trike offered anywhere that even comes close to that offered by us in conjunction with Airborne.  When you compare the aircraft grade aluminium, beautifully fabricated steel, powder coating finish and AN hardware throughout this trike has few equals.  Along with its long range comfort, a long list of options are available. The new Edge X offers the following standard features:

Two Great Wings
AirBorne offers two newly designed wings and like all trikes these can be fitted in a matter of minutes.  No other aircraft type can offer you a complete change in performance by such an affordable and easy route as a wing change.  Each wing has been exhaustively tested, G-loaded and flown through a full Australian CASA testing programme.  No matter which AirBorne wing you choose you can be assured you're choosing quality, safety and value.

The new Wizard II is the perfect wing for new pilots or those wishing to see the world from a low and slow perspective or for flyers who know how to enjoy the more rowdy air of midday thermal bumps.  With its larger (16.8 square meter) 40% double surface wing the Wizard II is quick to set up and is the perfect balance between easy low speed handling and a useful cruising speed. Wizard pilots
appreciate their wing's short field performance, slower take off and approach speeds and the great performance it offers when trying their hand at thermal soaring flight.

The recently introduced Streak with its 15 square meters offers greater
performance in handling, speed and stability.  With its 80% double surface construction, standard in-flight adjustable trim, double action wing tensioning system and well know AirBorne build quality, the Streak is a top of the line high performance wing for experienced pilots and serious cross country flyers. Streak pilots will enjoy its reasonable stall speeds, tight wing covering, high cruise speeds variable up to 75 mph and a 93 mph VNE.

But why choose just one?  Get the new Streak and the Wizard wing and get the best of both worlds with two great ways to enjoy your new Edge X trike.
